A discount code popup that does the work for the shopper

Most discount popups show a code and leave the rest to the shopper: copy it, remember it, paste it at checkout. Every one of those steps is a chance to lose the sale. Winky's discount code popup shows the code with a countdown, and the "Shop with my prize" button applies it to the cart in one click. If the shopper wanders off, a small reminder bubble brings them back before the code expires.

You can show the offer as a simple popup, or put it behind a short game such as the scratch card or the spin to win wheel, so the discount feels won rather than handed out. Winky never asks for an email or phone number first. The shopper sees the offer, gets the code and shops.

Single-use codes or one shared code

Single-use codes, made for each winner

For a percentage or an amount off, Winky creates a single-use Shopify discount code for every winner. Because each code works once, it can't be posted on a coupon site and used by everyone who finds it. The code is created in your Shopify store, so it behaves like any other discount at checkout.

Your own code, shared by every winner

Choose "My own discount code" when Shopify already handles the offer the way you want, for example a free shipping code you made in Shopify. Enter the code, and every winner of that prize gets the same one. Since anyone holding it can use it, set the rules you want on that code in Shopify.

Minimum order: make the discount pay for itself

For % and amount prizes you can set an optional minimum order. The code only works once the cart reaches that amount, which turns the discount into a reason to add one more item rather than a cut on an order that was coming anyway. Expiry: from 15 minutes to 7 days

• 15 minutes suits shoppers who are already on a product or the cart page and only need a nudge.
• 1 hour gives time to browse a few more products without losing the urgency.
• 24 hours fits considered purchases, where shoppers want to compare or check a size.
• 7 days works for gifts and bigger-ticket items people come back to later.

Whatever you choose, the countdown is shown with the code, so the shopper always knows how long they have.
