Spin to win wheel without email capture
Most spin wheels ask for an email before the spin. Winky's doesn't. Shoppers spin, win a real single-use Shopify discount code and shop with it, and nothing stands between them and the sale.
The spin is the whole ask. The prize is a real code, applied to the cart in one click.
Why skip the email wall
The usual spin to win popup is a sign-up form in disguise: type your email, then spin. It's a fair trade for a store that lives on email marketing. But if what you actually want is an order today, every field in front of the game is one more step before the shopper can shop.
- Less friction. A wheel that asks for nothing is a single tap. The shopper goes from curious to holding a prize in seconds, and "Shop with my prize" puts the code straight into the cart.
- Privacy by design. Winky doesn't collect names, emails, phone numbers or addresses. There's no personal data in your popup to explain, store or protect, and Winky's data is deleted when you uninstall.
- No list to manage. No imports, no syncing with another tool, no unsubscribes to handle. The result of a spin is an order you can see in Shopify, not a contact you have to market to later.
That's the thinking behind Winky as a whole: it's a popup built to increase sales, and it's measured in orders and sales rather than sign-ups.
When an email popup is still the better tool
Skipping email isn't right for every store, and we'd rather say so. A list-building popup earns its keep when:
- Your shoppers take weeks to decide, and a series of emails helps them get there.
- You launch new products or drops often and want a crowd ready on day one.
- Your newsletter already drives a big share of your sales.
None of that has to be either-or. Keep your email tool's own signup forms in your footer or on a dedicated page, and let Winky handle the in-the-moment sale. We go through the trade-offs in revenue popups vs email popups.
How Winky stays fair without an email
Without an email there's no account tying a shopper to a spin, so Winky uses other guardrails.
Single-use codes
Every winner of a % or amount prize gets their own Shopify code that works once, so it can't be posted and reused.
Returning winners
A shopper who already won gets their earlier code back instead of another spin.
How often
Once per visit (up to 3 times a week), once a day, once a week or only once ever.
Chances you set
Every prize has a chance weight, and the chances always add up to 100%.
Minimum order
Attach a minimum order so a prize only applies to baskets worth discounting.
Code life
Codes last 15 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days, so prizes don't pile up unused.
Set up a no-email spin wheel
- Install Winky and switch on the app embed. Winky shows you the switch in your theme editor. Nothing in your theme's code changes.
- Create a campaign from the "Spin to win" template. There's no email field to remove; it was never there.
- Choose the prizes. Mix percentage and amount prizes, your own free shipping code if you have one, and a "try again" slice. See prize ideas that protect margins.
- Pick when it shows and how often. After 10 seconds and once per visit (up to 3 times a week) is a calm start.
- Publish. Then watch views, plays, clicks, orders and sales in Winky's Analytics.

No-email wheel questions
More answers on the main FAQ.
Where do the shopper's details go?
Nowhere, because Winky doesn't collect them. There are no names, emails, phone numbers or addresses, and your Winky data is deleted when you uninstall.
Can I add an email field to the wheel?
No. Winky is built for sales, so there's no email or phone field. Keep using your email tool's own signup forms for your list; they work fine alongside Winky.
Can a shopper spin again to get a better prize?
A returning winner gets their earlier code back instead of a new spin, and you choose how often each shopper sees the wheel.
Is the discount code real?
Yes. For percentage and amount prizes, Winky creates a single-use Shopify discount code for each winner, with an optional minimum order and a life of 15 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days.
